Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks, Private Collections
Dalemain house, dating back to the 14th century, is since 1679 the home of the Hasell family, when it was acquired by Sir Edward Hasell. The house, with its interesting collections, and garden, are open to the public.
The house contains collections of fine furniture, family portraits, ceramics, dolls’ houses, and old toys.
The gardens include a knot garden and a walled orchard.
We are also home to ‘The World’s Original Marmalade Awards & Festival’ held annually in March at Dalemain.
In The Great Barn, situated in the courtyard at Dalemain, houses the Agricultural and Fell Pony museum on the upper floor.
Dalemain is also used for events such as the Cumbria Classic Car Show and C-Art (Cumbrian artists)
