Gardens & Parks
Gibberd Garden is covering 3.6 ha (9 acres) of 5.6 ha (14 acre) grounds, surrounding the 20th century home of late architect-planner Sir Frederick Gibberd, the planner of Harlow New Town.
The garden includes lawns, pools, streams and glades, a dramatic mature lime avenue, a brookside walk, a wild garden, an arboretum and a moated castle with a drawbridge. Sir Frederick and Lady Gibberd decorated the garden with sculptures and other decorative objects.
The house, built in 1907, was radically transformed by Sir Frederick, who added also a large extension.
This part of the House is open to the public on a limited basis.
