The Hortus in Amsterdam, dating back to 1638, is one of the oldest botanic gardens in Europe. It contains more than six thousand tropical and indigenous trees and plants.
The Hortus houses more than 6 000 different plants, some of which are unique such as the 2000 years old agave cactus and a 300-year-old Eastern Kape giant cycad
