Houghton Hall is the seat of the Marquesses of Cholmondeley, descendants from Sir Robert Walpole. Part of the House, with its remaining art collections, gardens & park, including the Stables, the Model Soldier Museum and the St Martin's Church, are open to the public.
The grounds include the deer park (redesigned by Charles Bridgeman in the 18th century), an Italian Garden, a Rose Garden, a Laburnum Garden, a Pool Garden and the former kitchen garden, which has been turned into a memorial to the grandmother of the current Lord Cholmondeley.
Houghton Hall is located adjacent to Sandringham House.
