The Latvian Museum of Photography, opened in 1993 and housed in an old 16th century merchant’s building, is dedicated to Latvian photography. The museum is part of the Museum of the History of Riga and Navigation.
The visitors can admire the permanent exhibition “Development of Photography in Latvia. 1839. – 1940”, works of foreign photographers, as well as exhibitions from the collection.
The 16th century merchant’s building, located in one of the oldest built quarters in Rīga (16th century), is decorated with multicoloured wall paintings, as well as historic decorated parquetry.
