Museum Kampa has in its care the collection of Jan and Meda Mládek. The collection contains the largest collection of works by one of the founders of modern abstract painting, František Kupka and works by other important artists of the 20th century from the so-called Eastern Block.
Jan and Meda Mládek lived abroad, mainly in the US, where Jan became in 1945 one of the first Governors of the International Monetary Fund. After the death of her husband in 1989, she returned to the Czech Republic, where she joined the political movement, the Civic Forum.
Later, she founded the Jan and Meda Mládek Foundation and created the Kampa Museum at the historical Sova's Mills for the art collection, which she donated to the City of Prague.
