Powerscourt House, an 18th century castle and dating back to the 13th century, is famous for its landscaped gardens, occupying 19 hectares (47 acres). The castle houses Tara's Palace Museum of Childhood including dollhouses, miniatures, dolls and historic toys.

Powerscourt was originally built for the Viscounts of Powerscourt and is presently owned by the Slazenger family.

The castle is also used for corporate and private events and on the 400 ha (1,000 acres) estate there is the Powerscourt Golf Club with 2 courses.

The garden is a 19th century 'Italian garden' designed by Daniel Robertson in 1841 and extended afterwards, including a terrace, a central axis, stepping down to a pool, and a large collection of statues. A Japanese garden was added in 1906.

The House is also a venue for weddings.

For more detailed information about its history, gardens, museum and events, see website.
