Prague Castle, Royal Garden & Belvedere

Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks
Prague Castle consists of a large-scale composition of palaces and ecclesiastical buildings of various architectural styles, from the remains of Romanesque-style building through the 10th century and the Gothic modifications of the 14th century.

Its glorious period was under the Habsburg ruler Rudolph (1576-1611), who moved the court from Vienna, making Prague the centre of a great European empire.

The Royal Garden was made by Ferdinand I in 1534, for his wife. It has a singing fountain and a Summer Palace, the Belvedere, built 1538-64 and designed by the Italian Paola della Stella.

Guided tours for individuals or groups. Audioguides are also available.  The standard tour takes you to the Cathedral of St. Vitus and the Old Royal Palace.
