Museums & Art Centres
The Pratermuseum is dedicated to the history of the Prater, this very special institution, which started in 1766 when Joseph II opened the imperial hunting grounds to the public. Attractions included carousels, Punch and Judy shows, spectacular fireworks displays, and experimental balloon flights.
Today the park is open 24hrs where everybody can enjoy the old-time amusements including Viennese icons such as the Ferris wheel, the “Riesenrad“, dating from 1897.
The museum is part of the Wien Museum.
