St Michael’s Mount has been a home of the St Aubyn family since 1659 and is part of the modern managed, family owned 2.024 ha (5.000 acres) estate and enterprise, with variety of interests.
St Michel's Mount itself is since 1954 partly owned by the National Trust, but the family retains a 999-year lease and the management.
The garden is located on its slopes and was first established in the 1780s. The warm Gulf Stream creates a micro climate, permitting all kinds of unlikely plants to flourish.
