Villa Sorra, Garden
Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks
Villa Sorra, an outstanding example of Emilian baroque architecture, dates from c1800. It is based on a design by Giuseppe Antonio Torri. The villa is surrounded by its park, the historical garden, its watercourses and the country garden.
The original 18th century garden was changed between 1827 and 1850 into an English landscape-style garden, with fake ruins and classical temples.
These changes were designed by Giovanni de' Brignoli di Brunnhoff, on request of Marquise Ipollita Levizzani, the wife of Count Cristoforo Munarini Sorra.
