Museo Civico Medievale, located in Palazzo Ghisilardi-Fava, is dedicated to Medieval Bologna including artefacts from the 7th-9th century, works of art from the 15th and 16th centuries, a rich collection of weapons, ivory and glass.
In addition the museum has also a section dedicated to ancient illuminated manuscripts.
The palace was built between 1484 and 1491. It was commissioned the notary and chancellor Bartolomeo Ghisilardi and designed by Zilio Montanari.
Today the museum is part of the Istituzione Bologna Musei.
