Bowood House, dating back to 1725, is the home of the Marquesses of Landsdowne. The greater part of the house was demolished in 1956, however the remaining part is still large. The House and gardens are open to the public.
The House contains the family's art collection with fine furniture, paintings and sculptures.
The gardens at Bowood are among Lancelot Brown's finest parks, laid out over 80 ha (2,000 acres) in the 1760s.
There is also a golf course, a hotel and spa, and is also a venue for film & photo shooting, field sports, cultural, corporate and private events, such as concerts, receptions, weddings...
