Castello di Miramare
Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks, Museums & Art Centres
Castello di Miramare is closely linked to the tragic, historic couple of the (short) Emperor of Mexico, Archduke Maximilian of Habsburg, and his wife, Charlotte of Belgium. It was commissioned in the 2nd half of the 19th century.
Designed as an Alpine Schloss by Carl Junker and Antonio Jelinek, its furnishings and decorations were made by the famous architect, Julius Hofmann and his father, the sculptor Franz.
Also the garden was designed by Junker and Jelinek.
