Castello Normanno-Svevo dating back to the 12th century, is today a museum housing a Gispsoteca, archaeological finds, ancient jewellery, precious items and holds temporary exhibitions and cultural events.

The castle was built early 12th century, but has been transformed several times afterwards. First, one century later by Holy Roman emperor Frederick II, who is supposed to have met St Francis of Assisi here. Furthermore in the second half of that 13th century by Charles of Anjou, and in the 16th century by Isabella of Aragon and her daughter Bona Sforza. To, well restored, it has become an important tourist attraction, and is managed by The Direzione Regionale Musei Puglia (Puglia Regional Museum Directorate).
