The Château de Caen was built for  William the Conqueror in 1060 on a site of total 5.5 ha. Today it houses the Museum of Fine Arts of Caen, the Museum of Normandy, the Saint George's church, the "Exchequer of Normandy" and a garden showing plants cultivated in the Middle Ages.
