Krimulda Manor

Castles & Country Houses
Krimulda Manor, dating back to the 13th century, is mainly remembered as the elegant residence of the historical family of the princes von Lieven. Today you can visit its historic buildings, the Manor Park, the Winery, whereas as manor serves also as a private rehabilitation centre.

In 1817, the Krimulda property was acquired by Prince Johann Georg von Lieven descendants lived here until 1921. The new manor building was constructed around 1822. Its architect is unknown, but the Krimulda manor is one of the most vivid examples of Classicism style villa architecture in Latvia.

The romantic park of the manor was created in 1853 by Paul Hermann von Lieven, with several promenades and two wooden stairs; one with 380 steps lead from the manor to the Vikmeste valley and another with 325 steps lead to the ferry across river Gauja.
