The New Castle of Sigulda (Segewold) got its present Tudor style outlook in the 19th century by Princess Olga Kropotkina (born Countess von der Borch) and her husband Prince Dmitri Kropotkin. Today it is owned by the city and has also a museum.

The estate was first mentioned in 1622 when it as leased to Herman Waker, whereas in 1737 the Russian Tsarina Anna donated it to Fieldmarshall Lasci. Through heritage it became into ownership of Count Braun and later of Countess von der Borch.

The typical national style interior of the castle was created in the thirties of the 20th century, when it belonged to the Latvian Press Society.

Currently, the buildings around the castle are housing craftsmen, artists and designers' creative workshops, where you can see exhibitions and expositions, as well as participate in some workshops.
