The Museum of Contemporary Art, established in 1954, is the biggest and most modern museum in the country, displaying a permanent exhibition with works dating from 1950 to the present and temporary exhibitions, both with works of Croatian and international artists. 

The present building was inaugurated in 2009 and designed by the architect Igor Franić. It houses also a library, a multimedia hall, a bookstore, cafe and a restaurant.
