Monuments & Sites, Museums & Art Centres
The Nikola Tesla Technical Museum, founded in 1954, is dedicated to the world of science and technology as a generator of technological progress and sustainable development. The museum is named after the inventor, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer and futurist, Nikola Tesla (1856 – 1943), born in Smiljan (now Croatia).
He emigrated to the USA, but his ashes are displayed in a gold-plated sphere on a marble pedestal in the museum.
The Museum buildings were built in 1949 by Croatian architect Marijan Haberle, as part of the complex of the Zagreb Trade Fair, and have the status of cultural monuments.
