Gardens & Parks, Museums & Art Centres
Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art is located in two buildings. Modern One is housed in an impressive neo-classical building, built in 1825. It was designed by William Burn. Modern Two is across the road from Modern One. It was built in 1833 and converted into a Gallery in 1999.
The landscaped lawn in front of Modern One was designed by Charles Jencks and is partly used as a magnificent sculpture park. It houses also Pig Rock Bothy for a changing programme of performances, discussions, residencies and events.
Modern Two is hosting temporary exhibitions and displays the Gallery of Modern Art's permanent collection, such as its extensive collection of Dada and Surrealist art and work by the sculptor Eduardo Paolozzi.
