Heidecksburg Palace is a monumental Baroque-Rococo palace and from 1574 to 1918 it was the residence of the counts and later princes of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt. Today it is a museum with eight permanent exhibitions.
The Painting Gallery includes works by the 18th- and 19th-century German masters. In addition, the Porcelain Gallery displays luxury tableware manufactured in the region.
An exceptional exhibition is the Rococo en miniature collection. The palace also has an outstanding collection of armoury of all sorts. There is also a Museum of Natural History.
