Penshurst Place was built in 1341 and is the ancestral home of the Sidney family. Today it is the home of Philip Sidney, 2nd Viscount De L'Isle and his family. Part of the house, 10 rooms, and 19 ha (48 acres) of grounds, including the 4.5 ha (11 acres) of formal gardens, are open to the public.

The house is one of the most complete surviving examples of English architecture of the 14th-century. The interior contains the family collections, brought together by the many generations of the Sidney family.

The gardens include a box parterre, a rose garden, borders and an orchard.

Penshurst Place is also a venue for TV, Film & Photo shooting, corporate and private events, such as receptions, weddings...
