In preparation of the 20 Juli plot (1944), Count Carl-Hans von Hardenberg held conspirative meetings here. He was arrested and his properties were seized by the Nazi's. After the reunification the manor was restituted to the Hardenberg family.

In 1996 it was acquired by a saving banks association (Deutscher Sparkassen-und Giroverband) and is today used for cultural events, in particular concerts, and a hotel, with availability for corporate and private events.
