Uppark House was built around 1690 for Ford Grey, 1st Earl of Tankerville, and designed by William Talman. The last private owner was Admiral Sir Herbert Meade-Fetherstonhaugh. Since 1954 it is in the hands of the National Trust.
The house contains elegant Georgian interiors with fine furniture, delicate porcelain, and captivating paintings, amassed during the 1750s by Sir Matthew Fetherstonhaugh and his wife Sarah. Among the rich collections, there is also a famous 18th century Doll-House.
The garden was remodelled in 1810 by the famous garden designer Humphry Repton, commissioned by the then owner Sir Harry Fetherstonhaugh.
The House and garden are open to the public.
