Clairvaux Abbey

Clairvaux Abbey dates back to the 12th century and is the former monastery of St Bernard, founder of the Cistercian Order, an austerely reformed branche from the Benedictine order.
The present buildings date from 1708, a part of which can be visited. Clairvaux had, before French Revolution, a famous library with more than 40.000 works. The main part can still be admired at the Mediathèque du Grand Troyes (see also website: http://troyes-champagne-mediatheque.fr)
The abbey is today also a cultural venue with concerts such as "Grands Concerts de Clairvaux"., lectures, market for monastical products...
