Crathes Castle

Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks
Crathes Castle has been the ancestral seat of the Burnetts of Leys for almost 400 years until 1951, when it was given to the National Trust for Scotland by the 13th Baronet of Leys, Sir James Burnett.

The house contains a fine family collection of furniture, portraits and other objects of art and interest.

The castle is surrounded by a 215 ha (530 acres) estate of woodlands, fields and a 20th century fine walled garden, laid out by Sir James Burnett of Leys. The impressive yew hedges date probably from c1702.
