The Dresdner Zwinger, constructed on behalf of August the Strong during the first half of the 18th century, was originally used as orangery, exhibition gallery and festival arena. Today it is a museum complex that contains the Old Masters Picture Gallery, the Dresden Porcelain Collection and the Royal Cabinet of Mathematical and Physical Instruments.
