Festenburg Castle, originally a military fortress, has been in the possession of Vorau Abbey since 1616. It got its present outlook in 1700, when it was rebuilt. The church, located in the former knights' hall, and the 6 chapels, all have beautiful frescos by the abbey's resident painter, Johann Cyriak Hackhofer (1675 - 1731).
The Festenburg offers guided tours and temporary exhibitions.
