The Rietberg Museum is a museum, dedicated to Asian, African, American and Oceanian art, containing some 23,000 objects and 37,000 ethnographic photographs. The Rietberg Museum is situated in the 6.9 ha Rieterpark with a complex of several historic buildings: the Wesendonck Villa, the Remise (or "Depot"), the Rieter Park-Villa, and the Schönberg Villa.
Richard Wagner composed Tristan und Isolde and the Wesendonck-Lieder here.
In 2007 a new building designed by Alfred Grazioli and Adolf Krischanitz was added to the complex.
